5 Healthy Travel Snacks

I like to eat 5-6 smaller meals each day, which sometimes makes it feel like I’m constantly eating…so I always make sure to have some sort of snack with me at all times. It’s especially important to bring your own snacks when you’re not sure if there will be food that fits your diet & lifestyle. Since I’m getting ready to take a 6 hour flight in a few weeks, I’ve been thinking about what kind of food I’ll be bringing in my carry-on.

Here are some healthy snacks you can take with you on your next trip!

1. Clif Bars

Clif Bars are one of my favorite snacks when I’m on the run. I recently found the nut butter filled kind at Target and stocked up on two amazing flavors – coconut almond butter and chocolate hazelnut butter.

I love that their regular energy bar is taken to another level with some filling nut butter inside!

2. Date Rolls

Date Rolls are super easy to make (literally throw all the ingredients in a food processor and roll the mixture into either balls, rolls, or bars) and they are so delicious.

Coconut Almond Date Rolls
2 cups almonds
1 cup shredded coconut
2 cups pitted medjool dates
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp sea salt

I’ll definitely be making these for my next trip!

3. Fruits and veggies

Fresh fruits and veggies are always a good choice. Carrots and celery are easy to pack and won’t go bad too quickly (just eat them early on in your travels). Apples and bananas are even easier to bring with you, because they come in a natural wrapper!

There are so many different options, depending on your preferences and how long your trip is, but this is definitely your healthiest choice of snacks.

4. Pretzels

Pretzels are a classic snack because they’re pretty filling and aren’t messy to eat. Also, you can get them in pre-packaged snack sizes which is convenient if you’re short on prep time.

5. Trail Mix

You can make your own trail mix for some quick energy. Dried fruits (like mango, apple, banana, kiwi and strawberries) can be paired with any type of nut (walnut, pecan, almond, etc). You can add shredded coconut or cacao nibs for a sweet treat!

Almonds + shredded coconut + cinnamon = my favorite combo!
