5 Things to do in New York City

So I moved to New York City in the middle of February this year and have had so much fun exploring my new city. Here are 5 things to check out the next time you’re in NYC.

1. Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park is located in Lower Manhattan and it’s surrounded by NYU buildings. With lots of grassy areas and benches, it’s the perfect spot for an outdoor lunch! Last time I was there, a few people were playing instruments in the center of the park…so there’s always something going on!

2. Flatiron Building

The Flatiron Building is located at 175 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and sits on a triangular block formed by Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and East 22nd Street. Eataly (a large Italian marketplace) is right across the street from the Flatiron Building.

3. New York Public Library + Bryant Park

The main (and most well-known) branch of the New York Public Library is located right in Bryant Park! Once you’ve looked around the library, you should go hang out on the big lawn directly behind the building. You can sit on the grass or grab one of the little tables along the sides of the lawn.

If you’re in NYC in the summer and have some free time to workout, I highly recommend signing up for a free session of Yoga in Bryant Park! It’s sponsored by Athleta and is held on Tuesday mornings (10-11am) and Thursday evenings (6-7pm) from May until the end of September. They provide yoga mats, so all you have to do is show up!

4. Plaza Hotel + Central Park

I’ve always LOVED the Plaza Hotel, since I grew up reading all of the Eloise books. It’s fun to walk around inside (so beautiful omg) – there are shops and a food hall within the hotel if you’re hungry.

Then you can go across the street to the entrance of Central Park and walk around for hours! The Central Park Zoo is located in this corner of the Park. (Save $2 by buying your ticket online!)

5. Yankee Stadium

If you visit during baseball season, you should definitely try to get tickets to a game!

We had pretty good seats in the bleachers!

Have you been to New York City? What was your favorite thing to see or do?
